UPDATE: SAVAGE AVENGERS, AND OTHER NEW PROJECTS FROM THE O.Z. WRITER DAVID PEPOSE!
about 2 years ago – Mon, Feb 21, 2022 at 11:44:49 PM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors, and welcome to another update from The O.Z.!

For those who backed our second Kickstarter campaign, you'll have gotten all this information and more in our latest update — but for those who missed our second campaign, I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting new projects with you!

That's right — I'm the writer of the All-New, All-Different Savage Avengers at Marvel Comics with artist Carlos Magno! It's been a long road to get here, but if you're a fan of my work on The O.Z., Scout's Honor, or Spencer & Locke, you'll enjoy what we're doing in Savage Avengers.

The quick concept: After being stranded in the modern Marvel Universe, Conan the Barbarian has had no shortage of adventures... but when he's charged with crimes against the timestream by the relentless cyborg Deathlok, Conan will have to turn to an unlikely team of superheroes to help him survive the night.

Think of a sword-and-sorcery infused version of The Terminator, and you'll see why I'm so excited about this series — you can preorder the first issue of Savage Avengers at your local comics shop now! And while you're at it you can also preorder Moon Knight: Black, White & Blood #2, where I'll also have a short story delving into the many minds of Marc Spector with artist Leonardo Romero! Barring any delays due to global supply chain issues, both books should be hitting comics shops everywhere on May 4.

Meanwhile, tomorrow marks the launch of Cthulhu Is Hard To Spell: Battle Royale, a new Kickstarter anthology from my pal Russell Nohelty! And fans of The O.Z. will be happy to see Ringo Award-nominated cover artist Maan House and I have a story of our own in the mix, titled The Master of Kung Fthulhu!

Without giving too many details away, our story follows a Shaolin monk on a quest for revenge after learning a martial arts style directly inspired from the Cthulhu mythos... it's a super-fun mashup of horror and kung fu stories, and I hope you back the Kickstarter tomorrow!

As always, I just want to thank you all for your incredible support of my work — I'm grateful for every Yellow Brick Road Warrior who's joined us on this journey, and I'm excited for you all to see what's coming next!

P.S. If you missed out on our second campaign but still want to get a copy of The O.Z. #2, we'll have our BackerKit store open to the public once we've wrapped up fulfillment for the campaign. I'll send more information on that in a future update!

THE O.Z. WINS A RINGO AWARD!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 27, 2021 at 05:08:41 AM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors, and welcome to an exciting new update for The O.Z.!

Now that I've had a bit to recover from Baltimore Comic Con, I wanted to share some exciting news... namely, The O.Z. won the Ringo Award for Best Single Issue or Story!

It's always incredible to be nominated for these awards, but as you might have guessed watching my acceptance speech, I certainly did not expect to win — especially as a self-published Kickstarter title.

But that's the power of our Emerald Army. And why I wanted to thank you most of all.

You never doubted us, never faltered for one second in your support — and you got us on the ballot. As such, you've not only pushed the heights of The O.Z. beyond anything we could have expected, but shattered the boundaries of what Kickstarter projects can accomplish in this industry.

So as always, we're grateful to you for the best readers we could have ever hoped for — just like this book could not have happened without you, neither would this award.

LAST DAY TO BACK THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Sep 15, 2021 at 03:40:01 AM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and welcome to a VERY important update for The O.Z.!

In case you haven't pledged yet, TODAY is the LAST DAY to back The O.Z.'s second Kickstarter campaign — and we've got our final stretch goal within sight! If we clear 1,000 backers or $40,000, we will unlock our secret fifth cover from artist Dominic Bustamante:

With less than 60 backers and $2,200 to go, this is absolutely an achievable goal, before The O.Z.'s new campaign closes at 7:30am PST on Wednesday. And if that's not enough to get you on board, we've got a number of incredible bonus rewards for our backers, including:

  • Our Digital Comics Extravaganza for all backers, with a murderer's row of #1s including Justin Jordan's Spread, Rylend Grant's The Peacekeepers, Garrett Gunn and Christina Blanch's Good Boy, and much more!
  • This incredible Battle Chasers-inspired print from artist Edu Souza, which will be included for free for all physical tiers:
  • Our show-stopping Courage Badge enamel pin from artist Rio Burton, which will be available as an add-on purchase OR automatically added for FREE for all $60+ tiers:
  • This beautiful set of painted cards featuring The O.Z. cast from artist Rachel Perciphone, which will be available as an add-on purchase OR automatically added for FREE for all $100+ tiers:

If you were a Yellow Brick Road Warrior last campaign, we'd love to have you back in the trenches with us for The O.Z.'s new Kickstarter — if you thought Dorothy's first tour of the Occupied Zone was action-packed, wait until you see her dangerous mission to recover the Silver Slippers!

Thank you to everyone in our Emerald Army for being the best comics fans on Kickstarter — now let's end The O.Z.'s second campaign strong!

LESS THAN 48 HOURS TO BACK THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 14, 2021 at 09:19:44 AM

Happy Monday, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and welcome to another update for The O.Z.!

As you may know, we're less than 48 hours away from The O.Z.'s second Kickstarter campaign wrapping up! And we're just 99 backers (or less than $4,000) away from unlocking Dominic Bustamante's incredible secret variant:

And in case you missed it in yesterday's update, we also unlocked our Courage Badge enamel pins from artist Rio Burton!

You can add this pin to your pledge by clicking "Manage your pledge," then "Change your pledge" — then CONFIRM YOUR CURRENT PLEDGE, and then you can add-on items to your purchase.

PLEASE NOTE: All $60+ tiers will get the pin automatically for free, plus all $100+ tiers will get Rachel Perciphone's painted card set automatically for free as well.

Now it's back to the trenches for yours truly, as we prepare for one last push for The O.Z.'s new Kickstarter campaign! But don't think we're going to leave you without something special — namely, this incredible Jack Pumpkinhead pinup from artist Briane Andan!

THREE DAYS LEFT OF THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER! COURAGE BADGE PINS UNLOCKED!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Sep 12, 2021 at 02:24:59 PM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and welcome to another update from The O.Z.!

Since I'm heading into the final day of Rose City Comic Con, I'll make this one short but sweet — yesterday The O.Z.'s new Kickstarter campaign crossed $35K, which means we've officially unlocked our Courage Badge enamel pins! These will be available as add-on purchases via Kickstarter and BackerKit!

To add these badges to your purchase on Kickstarter, click "Manage my pledge," then "Change my pledge" — just CONFIRM YOUR CURRENT PLEDGE, and then Kickstarter will take you to the add-ons list, which will let you tack the badges to your order.

PLEASE NOTE: All $60+ tiers will have the badge added automatically for free!

Additionally, because we're in our final three days of our campaign, I wanted to double our chances of unlocking Dominic Bustamante's Yellow Brick Road Warriors variant — if we clear $40,000 OR 1,000 backers, we'll add this fifth variant as an add-on purchase!

And last but not least, we're just 15 retweets away from unlocking the Writer's Commentary track for Issue #2 — all you need is to just retweet my pinned tweet!

Thank you all for making The O.Z.'s second campaign as incredible as you have — and if you haven't had a chance to back us yet, there's just three days left to join in on our action-packed second issue! We're in the home stretch now, so keep backing and sharing!
