JUST SEVEN DAYS LEFT TO ORDER THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 10, 2021 at 02:13:37 PM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and welcome to another update for The O.Z.!

We're in an exciting time, as we're in the home stretch for The O.Z.'s second campaign, with just SEVEN DAYS LEFT TO ORDER! And we're about halfway to reaching out next stretch goal, which will unlock these incredible Courage Badge enamel pins as an add-on purchase:

Once we hit $35,000, these will be available for purchase, so keep telling your friends! (And moreover, keep sharing our Social Stretch Goal on Twitter, so we can unlock a behind-the-scenes commentary track for Issue #2!)

Speaking of which! We've expanded our add-on purchases to include individual trade paperbacks for Spencer & Locke, Spencer & Locke 2, Going to the Chapel, and Scout's Honor, as well as our painted card set from artist Rachel Perciphone!

The process to add on items is simple — just visit The O.Z.'s campaign page, and you'll click "Manage your pledge," then "Change my pledge." From there, you'll want to CONFIRM YOUR CURRENT PLEDGE — then Kickstarter will bring you to our Add-On selections, where you'll be able to tack on any additional items to your purchase. If you have questions, just message me and we'll get you sorted!

And if you're a digital backer — you'll also be able to add items on via BackerKit when we collect your information when the campaign wraps! Kickstarter's setup won't allow us to add shippable items to digital pledges, but we'll have options for you.

Thank you to all of our Yellow Brick Road Warriors for making The O.Z.'s new Kickstarter such a success — and if you picked up our last issue and haven't returned for Part Two, time is running out to get in on our action-packed second installment! Let's end The O.Z.'s latest Kickstarter with a bang!

TWO WEEKS LEFT IN THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Sep 01, 2021 at 05:36:34 PM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and welcome to a brand-new update for The O.Z.!

Today officially marks TWO WEEKS LEFT in The O.Z.'s new Kickstarter campaign, and we're making good progress towards hitting our $35,000 stretch goal — which will unlock our awesome Courage Badge enamel pins for a $10 add-on purchase for all physical tiers!

Plus, all $60+ tiers will get the badge added automatically for FREE — and all digital backers can add it via BackerKit when the campaign wraps.

Also, since I showed off Ruben Rojas' Jack Pumpkinhead design a few days back, I wanted to show off his INCREDIBLE work with the Prince of Lions!

The ultimate stealth fighter, the Prince of Lions is operating at a very different level from Dorothy and company — when I wrote the series back in 2019, I used Chadwick Boseman's performance as the Black Panther as a big influence for the Prince. He's not just a formidable fighter, but he's grappling with what it means to have courage when you're the ruler of the Animal Kingdom — something that he'll have in common with Dorothy, who's learning that leading a revolution isn't without its own burdens or responsibilities. (He's also Ruben's favorite character to draw!)

And y'know, speaking of the Lion... should I show off this awesome pin-up that artist Maria Wolf did for Issue #2?

All right, O.Z. fans, it's back to the mines for yours truly — but if you haven't ordered our double-sized second issue on Kickstarter yet, we've got TWO WEEKS LEFT! So keep sharing and pledging, because we've got even more fun stuff in store!

DAY 15 OF THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER: PAINTED CARDS UNLOCKED — COURAGE BADGE PINS NEXT!
over 2 years ago – Mon, Aug 30, 2021 at 06:22:07 PM

Welcome to Monday, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and we've got a special update for The O.Z.!

Thanks to the unstoppable efforts of our Emerald Army, last night The O.Z.'s new Kickstarter campaign SMASHED through yet another stretch goal at $30,000, and have unlocked our painted card set from artist Rachel Perciphone!

ALL $100+ tiers will get these four cards added to their pledge for FREE! Meanwhile, all other tiers can add the cards to your purchase via Kickstarter by clicking "Modify pledge" — underneath your pledge, then you can then click "The O.Z. Painted Card Set" to add that to your pledge for an additional $15.

You can also add these cards to your order via our digital storefront on BackerKit once the campaign wraps — when we collect your shipping address, you'll be able to add any additional items to your order. Additionally, we're INCREDIBLY excited to unveil our next stretch goal, which will unlock at $35,000 — because The O.Z.'s second issue introduces the enigmatic Prince of Lions, we're proud to reveal this exclusive Courage Badge enamel pin, designed by artist Rio Burton and produced by Promistyx!

These enamel pins are 1.5 inches tall, so they'll fit on any hat, lapel, or backpack — and best of all, if we crack $35,000, ALL $60+ TIERS will get these pins for FREE! So tell your friends to order The O.Z., because you are NOT going to want to miss out on this exclusive collectible! And last but not least — we're pushing ahead on our second Social Stretch Goal, with 66 retweets and climbing! Remember, once my pinned tweet reaches 100 retweets, we'll be unlocking an exclusive behind-the-scenes commentary track for The O.Z. #2, recorded by yours truly!

Thank you as always to our Yellow Brick Road Warriors for being such dedicated and passionate supporters of our work — and if you haven't ordered Issue #2 from our new Kickstarter campaign yet, we hope to have you join us when you're ready! Let's keep sharing and spreading the word about our campaign, and grow our Emerald Army strong!

NOW REINTRODUCING... THE RINGO AWARD-NOMINATED O.Z.!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 28, 2021 at 12:45:04 PM

Good morning, Yellow Brick Road Warriors! And welcome to a special update for The O.Z.!

I've said before that nothing can stop our Emerald Army... but even I didn't know just how much power your collective voices held.

Because The O.Z. is officially a Ringo Award nominee!

For those who aren't familiar, the Ringo Awards are one of the most prestigious awards in the comic book industry, open to both fans and professionals alike for nominations. And we are so proud to announce that The O.Z. has been nominated for Best Single Issue or Story, as well as The O.Z. cover artist Maan House and letterer DC Hopkins being nominated for Best Cover Artist and Best Letterer!

To say that we're shocked, thrilled, and grateful is underselling it — because this victory comes from you. We didn't have a publisher to promote us, or a distributor to spread the word — as one of only two self-published series on the entire ballot, The O.Z. is only as strong as its Yellow Brick Road Warriors.

And the greatest part of all? The best is yet to come for our series. If you haven't seen it yet, we're ten days into The O.Z.'s second Kickstarter campaign, with plenty of print and digital options to accommodate any budget. Be sure to check out our 11-page preview, as Dorothy begins her dangerous quest for the Silver Slippers — who knows what other characters she might meet along the way?

As always, thank you to our Emerald Army for being the best comics fans on Kickstarter — stay tuned for more updates to come, because now I have to redesign all our second issue covers to make room for this...

DAY 11 OF THE O.Z.'S NEW KICKSTARTER: ADD-ONS, STRETCH GOALS, AND MORE!
over 2 years ago – Sat, Aug 28, 2021 at 12:44:42 PM

Good morning, Yellow Brick Road Warriors! And welcome to an important update from The O.Z.!

Ever since The O.Z.'s second Kickstarter campaign launched, we've had MANY returning backers ask if they could purchase the trade paperback for Scout's Honor individually — as well as MANY new backers asking if they could add on The O.Z.'s Ringo Award-nominated first issue to their purchase.

The Emerald Army has spoken, and we have listened — as of today, ALL PHYSICAL BACKERS can add on The O.Z. #1 (Main Cover) and/or the Scout's Honor trade paperback to their orders DIRECTLY on Kickstarter!

How do you do this, you might ask? If you've already made a pledge, you can visit The O.Z.'s Kickstarter page, click the "Manage your pledge" button at the top of the screen, then click "Change your pledge," and from there, you should be able to add on either of these items to your pledge.

This offer DOES extend to our Early Bird backers — but PLEASE be careful not to cancel your pledge entirely, because Kickstarter's functionality won't allow us to honor that price if you accidentally cancel!

But what if you want to purchase one of our OTHER Issue #1 variant covers, as seen above? Don't worry, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — because we want to keep the Kickstarter page as streamlined as possible, we'll also be offering a comprehensive BackerKit storefront once the campaign concludes, so you will be able to add on EVERY ITEM we offer when we collect your shipping address there.

Furthermore, any stretch goals we unlock will be available as add-on purchases on both Kickstarter AND BackerKit — beginning with our set of Yellow Brick Road Warrior cards from Rachel Perciphone! We're about $1,750 away from unlocking that stretch goal, so keep pledging and sharing with your friends!

And did you know we've almost hit 50 retweets for our Social Stretch goal? Just a few more retweets, and ALL PHYSICAL BACKERS will get this FREE incredible print from Edu Souza and Jasen Smith!

As always, we're so grateful to our Emerald Army for everything you've done — if you haven't joined our double-sized second campaign yet, we'd love to have you, because we've got some VERY exciting stretch goals we're excited to reveal!
