We wanted to reach out because TOMORROW, Thursday, June 24 is the final day to vote for THE O.Z. for the Ringo Awards! And we are proud to submit our series for your consideration in the following categories:

As a reminder, ANYONE can vote for these prestigious comics awards — just visit https://ringoawards.survey.fm/ringo-awards-2021-nominations to cast your ballot! (And be sure to check your spam folder and click the confirmation email they send afterwards to ensure your vote is counted!)

Beyond that,  we're getting ready to debut our prelaunch page for our long-awaited second Kickstarter campaign — but as we wait for Kickstarter to approve our project before our release next month, who wants to see a sneak peek at Ruben Rojas' incredible main cover?

Stay tuned, and thanks again to our Emerald Army for all your incredible support — the best is yet to come!

VOTE FOR THE O.Z. FOR THE RINGO AWARDS!
about 3 years ago – Sat, Apr 10, 2021 at 10:55:58 PM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors — and welcome back to a special update for The O.Z.!

Artist Ruben Rojas is still hard at work drawing our double-sized second installment of our series, but in the meantime, we wanted to make an extra-important request of our Emerald Army — namely, voting for The O.Z. in the Ringo Awards!

ANYONE can vote for the Ringo Awards, which are the equivalent of the Emmys for the comic book industry — and we are proud to submit The O.Z. for your consideration in the following categories:

This year, the Ringo Awards have changed their process slightly — once you complete your ballot, they will send a confirmation email with the subject line "Confirm Response: Ringo Awards 2021 Nominations." It's VERY important that you open this email and confirm your vote after you've finished your ballot, or else your vote won't count!

But just so you don't think this communication is one-sided, we also wanted to unveil a sneak peek at Ruben's INCREDIBLE artwork on the next installment of The O.Z. — stay tuned for more information on our next campaign, returning soon to Kickstarter!

P.S. There are still SEVEN physical backers who never filled out their BackerKit survey, so I don't have your shipping address to send your rewards! If you're one of those backers, or are a digital backer who didn't see the Dropbox link I sent to your Kickstarter account, direct message me here or request a new survey at theozcomic.backerkit.com, and we can coordinate getting your books in your hands ASAP!

Thank you as always for being the best fans on Kickstarter — we cannot wait to show you the action and thrills we have in store for the next issue of The O.Z.!

WEDNESDAY DISPATCH: THE WAR'S NOT OVER YET...
over 3 years ago – Thu, Feb 04, 2021 at 02:17:49 AM

Greetings, Yellow Brick Road Warriors! And welcome to a special Wednesday update for The O.Z.!

We wanted to let you know that we're hard at work on the next installment of our fantasy war epic — the scripts are already written and artist Ruben Rojas is crushing it on his pages, and we're planning to kick off our second Kickstarter campaign as soon as we've built up a critical mass of pages.

Without spoiling too much, here's some of Ruben's thumbnails from our next chapter...

And without giving too much away, here's a snippet of something cool I got from artist Rio Burton today...

Hmm... wonder what that might entail. ;-)

Needless to say, things are going to be heating up in the magical, war-torn land of Oz in our next double-sized installment, as Dorothy's mission to liberate the Occupied Zone gets complicated by a certain pair of missing silver slippers... so stay tuned here for more information, or follow me on Twitter or subscribe to my newsletter PEP TALKS for the latest and greatest!

And if you're jonesing for more comics from me in the meantime, my new story ROXY REWIND (with SPENCER & LOCKE artist Jorge Santiago, Jr.) will be launching on February 17th in the pages of the PROJECT: Big Hype anthology, which you can sign up for the prelaunch page here!

ROXY REWIND is the story of teenager Juniper Wells, whose mother was a carhop in 1954 and whose father was a temporal physicist from the year 2150. Raised in our present, Juniper must use her inborn abilities over time to save the city! Roxy's our love letter to classic Spider-Man and Superman stories remixed through time-travel adventures like Life Is Strange and Back to the Future, so don't miss out.

Finally, last but not least, but the second issue of SCOUT'S HONOR, my new series at AfterShock Comics, hits comics shops nationwide and ComiXology next Wednesday, Feb. 10:

If you like stories about disillusionment and post-apocalyptic cults — and let's face it, if you liked THE O.Z., you're probably in the target demographic — you'll love our second installment. Let's just say losing your religion is harrowing enough without a gang of murderous Highwaymen invading your home...

Beyond that, there are a few Kickstarters I also wanted to shout out — my friends Joseph Glass, Karla Nappi and Clay Adams all have incredible new Kickstarter comics out with The Miracles, Duplicant and Deadskins, which you should all check out. Meanwhile, my pal Charlie Stickney is set to launch his campaign for the White Ash spinoff series Glarien of White Ash — I've been seeing pages of this smoldering mature-readers fantasy story for weeks, and let me tell you, it's some of Charlie's finest work yet.

At any rate, thank you to every member of our Emerald Army for your continued enthusiasm and support — we've got more adventures in the Occupied Zone coming your way soon!

UPDATE: FINAL SHIPPING COMPLETE!
over 3 years ago – Sun, Jan 10, 2021 at 03:20:05 PM

Happy Saturday, Yellow Brick Road Warriors! And here's your latest update for The O.Z.!

Now that Ruben has wrapped up all of his commissions and the replacement copies of our Kenneth Wagnon variant have arrived from the printer, I'm pleased to report that ALL of our physical rewards have been shipped!

If you haven't received an email from Pirateship with your USPS tracking codes yet (and it hasn't gone to your spam filter), you likely will get an email with one sometime on Monday. Most domestic backers have already received your orders, but apologies for anyone in Baltimore and the surrounding areas — the Post Office has slowed to a crawl in your neck of the woods, but your packages are still en route.

NOTE: For the 10 physical backers who haven't filled out your BackerKit surveys yet, I sent a personal follow-up email to you on Thursday night, so be sure to check your spam filters. I just need your shipping address, and which cover(s) you want if there were variant covers in your orders.

And like I've said in the earlier updates — if you happened to get a Kenneth Wagnon variant that had the printer error (you'll know it if you suddenly see a page that was inserted upside-down), just message me here directly and we'll send you a replacement free of charge.

Lastly, for those who have enjoyed our work on The O.Z., I have a brand-new #1 issue that has hit comics shops nationwide called Scout's Honor — it's the story of a post-apocalyptic cult that has risen from the ashes of a nuclear war... and their bible is an old Boy Scout manual.

I've billed Scout's Honor as Fallout meets Mulan, with a bit of The Hunger Games, The Last of Us and The Handmaid's Tale thrown in for good measure, and I consider it to be a great shot-and-chaser to The O.Z. You can buy Scout's Honor #1 at your local comics shop or ComiXology, and you can ask your local comics shop to add the rest of our five-issue miniseries to your pull list.

I want to thank every single Yellow Brick Road Warrior for your tireless support during our campaign for The O.Z., which I am excited to roll out our next Kickstarter campaign over the next few months. Ruben has been hard at work on our next installment, and his pages are looking terrific. (And don't worry, we will send out numerous updates here and on BackerKit as the next Kickstarter gets closer.)

Stay tuned, because you're not going to want to miss the next action-packed chapter of The O.Z.!
